Workshop with Master’s students at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn.
19-30 October 2015
Leopards break into the temple and drink all the sacrificial vessels dry; it keeps happening; in the end, it can be calculated in advance and is incorporated into the ritual.
Frank Kafka, Zurau Aphorisms, #20.
There is an urge of meaning that permeates human relationship with cultural objects and events. It could be that we blossom as humans through these language and wonder based exchanges. It could be that we approach and frame ourselves as the animal that remains in deep need of being related with what is around us.
The proposal of the workshop is to place rituals in our working table to examine and celebrate them. We will explore their span in our practice as artists and producers of objects and cultural expressions. That is what wants to be stressed with the !, the exclamation mark on the workshop title: let’s handle it!
